the trickle down

Ugggh

I think I've written posts with this title, before.

I've been a bit overwhelmed the past week or so (longer, but It's been more noticeable that I'm overwhelmed this week). I'm not doing as well as is possible for me in pretty much every area of my life. I can't be negative about it anymore... I need to pick myself up, here. I've got to send some good, long notes to a few people I haven't spoken to in months and catch up - see how everyone's doing and where they're headed. Then I need to buckle down on my schoolwork and just force some work to get done ahead of time, so I'm not dragging my feet when it's time to do work.

I think I can do it. Uh-huh.

I Can't Stand That Voice

Note to self: I really do hate that voice. It grates on my very being.

Week's Rundown

I can't remember everything that happened in this past week, so I won't try to sum it all up... just the key points.

Tuesday was the Monsoon... I've read that upwards of five to eight or ten inches fell in just 30 or so hours all over New Castle County, but I'm not sure if that seems right. But there was a *load* of rain that fell all day. It was enough to keep me from attending my night class. I instead did some readings, studied, then did some homework down at Sarah's apartment. It was relaxing and the rain was actually nice to watch from inside.

Wednesday I saw Fahrenheit 911 for the first time at UD's weekly Indie film series. I went with Kasey and HTizzle and it was really an excellent movie. Documentaries don't have to be all bipartisan and this one surely wasn't. Michael Moore did tell a number of really impactful stories and made a number of key points that are all validly backed up. Sure there was speculation, but the facts presented were more than enough to justify some of the speculations made. Sarah came over to calm me down about my work as I worked on an MIS project throughout the night.

Thursday I talked with a number of residents about various roommate and school issues which made me feel nice and useful. It's a good time and it put me back in the swing of things with RA'ing. It, coupled with work, made me miss nearly all of the radio show, but I did get down to the station in time to hang out a fair amount with Tony and Liz. We then went to KFC afterwards - a delicious affair that should only be acted once per month maximum.

Yesterday (Friday) I had a "great" day of classes which started with my network administration lab partner arriving fifty-five minutes late for lab, which wouldn't've been terrible if he wasn't the one with the hard drive. So we had to race through the lab in the second half of the session and finished about twenty minutes after the class ended. It turned out allright, but I felt like we were moving slower than need be and that I was the only one who'd read through the manual ahead of time. My partner's a great guy, though, and he said he'd slept late and had to catch a bus to campus (he lives way down by the UD stadia). I can't fault him too much, because I know he's reliable in most all situations.

But Friday night, I went with Sarah, Missy (the Central complex CC), and Missy's husband Brian to FrightLand (www.frightland.com). It was opening night for the hayride and haunted houses... IT WAS GREAT! The two haunted houses are changed quite enough from last year and there was a new haunted house attraction. All three houses have a distinctly different feel and everyone involved enjoyed it very much. The hayride left a bit to be desired, but I think they were a little short on people due to it being the first night they were open. By two weeks from now, it will be incredible once again.

Today (Saturday) was spent pretty much lounging and hanging with Sarah. We went out to dinner at Taste of India, which was a big jump for me to try Indian food... but it was delicious. There's some of the chicken I had left over and that's really exciting to me to have another meal. Since it wasn't too far away, either, and because she's tricky like that, Sarah also had us drop by her mom's. Four hours later, we were on our way back to Newark. I really enjoyed myself! Now, Sarah's finishing a great painting/advertisement for next week's *Art Under the Stars* and I'm working on her iBook. Pretty certain my next computer will be an Apple... just not sure which or when or why I need a new computer.

That's it for now.. what a way to spend homecoming weekend! I mean it!
